It is another beautiful day here, about 76 degrees out at 1PM, with a nice breeze. Nine days into the New Year, wow!
The night of the 7th was very chilly, yes, I said chilly. After I got into bed, I got back up and put on socks, back into bed, still cold, got back up, and positioned two pillows on one side of me, and another on the other sides, pulled up the comforter, and made a nest! Last night I just went to bed with socks on and my fleece jacket, with the comforter already pulled up the pillows in place!
Yesterday I started my Raku class. Raku is a type of Japanese pottery, which is used in tea ceremonies. It isn't fired at the extreme heat that most pottery is. We learned about Raku, and then were given 15 pounds of clay. I made three or four small items, and left them for safe keeping, and took the rest of the clay home. i will make things here, and take them to the school before next Saturday, when they will fire them. After the firing, then we will put glazes on them, and on the last day of class, which is the last Saturday of January, they will once again go into the ovens for the glazing. I am making items that will be easy to carry home with me, and as the teachers said, expect the firing goddess to take some...
In the late afternoon, I got a call from Phil, and was out on the driveway talking with him, as that is the best place to get some kind of a decent signal, when I stepped into a hole, my foot rolling on the soaking hose, and I fell down, my cell phone flying across the driveway. The dogs across the way came flying, one of them nipping me. I was yelling at him to get the hell a away from me, when John came flying out of the house, hearing me yelling. At the same time, the owner of the dogs was calling them to come home, which they did. I asked John to get me a pillow to kneel on to position myself to get up, and then got up. Fortunately I did not fall on my left side or my left leg and knee. I fell on my right side, bruising my right hand on the ourside, and my right calf and foot. My hand was swelling up as was the calf. I would hardly walk on my right foot. I basically went and laid down, putting my feet up and over two pillows, and read. Later I took a hot shower and went to bed.
This morning I got up and the swelling in my hand was down but I could still feel it, of course. The swelling on my right calf was also down, and my right foot, from the middle toe to the pinkie is black and blue. I have either given myself a good sprain (which is my evaluation) or I have a broken bone. But there is no swelling. I am certainly hobbling however, now on the right leg!!
Life is still good!
Adieu, Adios, Mahalo!
I love you all.
Sally

I don't know about you, woman. You need to pay attention and watch where you are going. I'm glad you are having such a good time (other than this fall). I have been enjoying reading about your escapades. Take care and enjoy yourself.
The Raiku sounds really fun...I'll be anxious to see what you have left after the fire goddess takes her share.....
Be careful......hopefully you are healing or healed by now.
Many hugs,
mar
