The dreaded SNOW was on the ground when I woke up this morning. Ugh! The good part however is that it isn't much, and will melt fast if, and that is a big IF, it warms up around here. From Molokai to Elkton, Virginia in less than a month can be a shock to some people's system. I just say, "oh well!"
The bright daffodils nod their heads in assent, and the hyacinths and croci and the blue periwinkles peak out in bright colors. The forsythia lends sunshine to what could be a dull day for some. Come on, life's an adventure if you take a day at a time, and stay within it!
A fat robin, a female cardinal, and a blue jay all greeted me when I came out here to turn on my computer. Out here, is the unheated enclosed huge porch, that is attached to Bucky and June's house. It is where I worked last year when I was recovering from my accident. Which by the way is all healed to the great relief of yours truly. No need to go back unless I need to do so.
This upcoming week I have four appointments with medical personnel; my personal physician, my dentist, my orthopedist, and to get a mammogram, one of the most pleasant experiences anyone could have! And only a man could have invented that machine.
I am also cleaning out all my belongings here at the house, sorting them, and finding that I don't need so much as I thought - what a concept that is! I also went out to my storage unit, looking around. Everything seems to be in good shape, as I was gazing at stuff, I kept thinking, "Why the heck did I save that?" Over and over again. So my friend Susan and I will be going out there, hopefully later this week, and I will donate those things I do not want, or aren't earmarked for my kids, and take them to EAUS to the thrift store for sale. Less is better - in many ways.
Friday, my friend Terry and I drove up to Fairfax, Virginia, and went to the Fairfax Genealogical Conference - the Friday night session only. We both had consults with experts first and I was able to get some insight into where I should really start to try and find out what the famous or infamous Lady O'Neill's first name was. This has been a mystery no one has been able to solve, so I am on the quest to solve it! Both the lectures were very good, and afterward, both Terry and I had our brain's totally spinning with way too much data to process on the drive home. I still do! But I loved it, and would definitely go to other similar conferences in the future.
There are no good movies here right now, but, YES, March madness is upon us, and I have been watching some of the games - none of those I have watched have been runaways. I love watching college basketball. Bob always had the entire schedule posted somewhere in the kitchen and every time a game ended he would post the winner, and we watched as the brackets filled up, and suddenly there were only 8 teams left, then four, and then the playoffs. Great memories. By the way, Bob has been gone now for 9 years as of yesterday. But I know he is watching these games somewhere, probably perched on my shoulder!
I am currently reading Jodi Picoult's new book, SING ME HOME, I think it is entitled. It comes with a CD which is different. To date, I have not listened to the CD. I don't need to in order to read a book. May never listen to it! So far it is pristine in its pocket of the book. I think I am getting tired of Jodi's writing. I have always appreciated her taking on difficult issues, but it seems like it is becoming same old, same old. And I have about twenty books on my window sill waiting to be read. So this may be 'goodbye' to her.
Well, I am thoroughly frozen and am going to make a small pot of coffee, and go through some more stuff. Then at 2:20 EST I will turn on the TV and watch Kansas vs. VCU - who ever thought VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) would make it this far in the tournament? Then at 5:05PM, North Carolina takes on Kentucky. Then we will know who is in the FINAL FOUR!!!!
Adieu, Adios, A Hui Hou,
I love you all very much,
Sally
