I am back in Nevada, Iowa, now at my nephew John's home. Last night we had some major lightening storms past through, and John and his wife Tara told me where to go if I heard the warning go off in town that a tornado was headed our way. Outside of Des Moines last night, one town was pelted with ping pong size hail! Fortunately, we did not get any. More storms are headed this way this afternoon, Tara told me.
I am sort of collecting myself, and making plans to go up to Fort Dodge at least twice, and also will go back down to Des Moines and the Archives Friday afternoon and all day Saturday, to get the William H. Hawley letters finished. I hope!
It is hot and humid here, although right now it is pretty pleasant out, and there is a breeze.
Yesterday afternoon, before I came to John's, I stopped in Ames, and picked up some steaks, baked potatoes, and corn. We took them and a salad over to Dick's for Father's Day. It was really nice and Dick appreciated it also. I think he is very glad to have his house back to himself, after having all his children running in and out for the past week, and Sarah and her daughter staying with him (Sarah is Dick's only daughter).
My youngest, Philip, celebrated his 39th birthday yesterday also. I called and sang to him! Here is a picture of him and Gihan his wife taken outside the Getty Museum in Los Angeles in March -
I just realized that now that I know how to attach photos in my blog, that I don't think I have shown off my children, who will always be my kids even though they are grown up...
They are in order of age strangely enough! This was at Phil's Wedding in October 2011 - Frank, Siobhan, Kat, and Phil - all my pride and joy!
Because the country is heating up, and I thought you might like to cool off at some ocean beach, ...

that was taken at the Monger residence in good old Elkton. I'm glad you are adding more to your blog. It's nice to keep up with what you are doing. Miss you around here, though.
