Tomorrow I leave again from Elkton...this time to Wisconsin and to Iowa. I am now retired and want to spend some time visiting family and friends, across this great nation of ours.
Menomonie, Wisconsin is the home of Bob Atwell and Casey Green-Atwell, and their almost 4 year old daughter, Natalie, known to many as Badge. Badge is the luckiest little girl to have such wonderful parents. And I can't wait to get to know her better, as the last time I was with her was at the Grand Tetons for a reunion, two years ago. Bob is an art professor at the University of Wisconsin - Stout. Casey is a household engineer and a former and perhaps future grade school teacher.
With my book on my dad, John, nearly finished, Bob is going to help me get photos scanned and captioned, as I go over Kat's editing of my text. Hopefully before I leave Menomonie, I will have this ten year project basically finished. My next project is my Civil War uncle, William Henry Hawley.
From Wisconsin, I will go to visit my brother Dick. Also to visit with John and Tara, Dick's son and daughter-in-law. And to get to Des Moines, to see my best friend of 60 odd years, Louise, and her golfer husband, Joe
I have some research to do in Fort Dodge, both at the museum and at the cemetary, as well as the cemetary in Humboldt, Iowa. Dick has the original diary of our great-great grandfather, Major William Williams, which I want to read.
Although I don't own a Lap Top yet, I plan to get one before I take off on my next, much longer journey. I will be using this blog spot to relate experiences, places seen and visited, as I travel both blue highways and the Interstates (ugh).
