In case you haven't noticed, I have changed the format of my blog, and added some links. How was I able to do this, you ask? I have a savvy MacBook daughter, Kat, who spent about a half an hour last night showing me - she in the Big Apple and me here in San Diego. And this morning - I added three more links. I am strutting around here crowing!
It is another beautiful day in SD. But warm, and looking at the temps in the East, the heat has settled in in some places. Marty and I are going out in about an hour and a half, and shopping for something for me to wear to Phil and Gihan's wedding. Hopefully I can find what I want. I know what it is, but I have to find it first. Know what I mean? Then we are going to have lunch at a local restaurant with lots of fresh produce, and then go to one of my favorite places - Trader Joe's - whoohoo!
I am on the last three months of 1863 in William's Civil War letters. I am getting very close to this man, and often go into my head thinking about the "what ifs". There was one letter in which he described in minute detail having to watch the execution of two Union soldiers who were deserters. War is definitely hell, and the Civil War was the worst of the worst.
Will has a painting job and started it yesterday. He does a beautiful job as is evidenced here at Marty's. However, this is the first home of a friend of a friend of Marty's, and it is a 1966 double wide. All paneled. Pretty depressing, but we know he will do his very best in spite of the paneling, which he is painting over. Not an easy task.
I have finished reading SEARCHING FOR TAMSEN DONNER, by Gabrielle Burton. It really was a search by Burton for herself, and following, with her husband and five girls, Tamsen's path across the country. Quite fascinating. I have started another book, a novel, written as a diary, about a young girl in the Arizona Territories, in the late 1800's. I love these kinds of books.
Marty came back from Ashland with some wonderful artwork she had done when she and her friend Deb went to a two day glass with a well known artist. Marty has wonderful artwork in her home, and most of it is hers. Will finished painting her studio while she was gone, and she is busy putting it back together, as I write this.
Aja, the gorgeous Himalayan owner of Marty, is outside, sunning herself, and comes in to eat, and poop, and sniff around, and then hauls ass out to the patio! Where she can be found at various times of the day, under the weeping mulberry, on the patio, curled up on a pillow, investigating noises around the fence, and generally guarding her palace.
A week from today we will be up in Lompoc and having lunch, getting ready for a wedding! What fun!
If you want to be known follower of my blog, just do it!!!!
I am content and peaceful and smiling!
Adieu, Adios, Mahalo,
I love you all,
Sally
