I arrived in Elkton on March 6th, having had a great trip, covering over 1800 miles in three days. I had gorgeous blue skies, and fast driving while listening to books on CD. I think that is the way to travel long distances. Only got lost once, and that was trying to find my Best Western in Oklahoma City. My fault, as I took the wrong turn-off. But it all just another adventure in my life of adventures.
Staying with friends in Elkton, I was able to see my ophthalmologist; my family
doctor; and my dentist. I will be going back to see my dentist after taking Siobhan and Brie to the Richmond airport, on Tuesday. I was also able to get in a short visit with friends, and plan on playing poker with them and the rest of the poker group this Wednesday.
March 11th...Today is Rae's wedding, and I am tubbed, scrubbed and rubbed, waiting until the designated hour to go over to Frank's house, where the whole affair is taking place. Siobhan, Kat, and Scott Hill are out and about, and will be coming back to dress. Brie just ran in with Heather, and grabbed her clothes, and out they went over to the house. The wedding is at 4PM, and it is now 2PM.
Siobhan was able to find us a wonderful house to rent for four nights, and it is only a mile or so down the road from Frank's. A wonderful old house, with five bedrooms, and 30 acres, sitting back from the road. The man who owns it lives near Charlottesville, and was raised here. His grandparents built the house in the 1940's.
March 10th...Yesterday, we went over to Frank's, dressed in our wedding outfits and had all the pictures taken. Rae and her entourage had already taken the wedding party pictures and now was the time for the family pictures. She and Bryan were dressed in their wedding clothes also, and lots of pictures were taken. Rae wanted to do this before hand, so it didn't have to be done today. Frank got a license and will marry them, which is exciting for all of us.
I am going to show you the pictures without too much commentary, but I have to tell you it was a beautiful day, a beautiful bride, and a wonderful time. Most of the decorations were made by Rae, Bryan, and their friends, and they did a beautiful job.
There were three tents set up; one for the wedding service; a breezeway tent between that tent and the tent set up for the dinner. In the breezeway hung a candelabra made by Brie and her bridesmaids.

Proud papa marrying his daughter and gaining a son...
The wedding was very laid back, the bride changed into more comfortable clothes before we sat down to dinner. That was wonderful also, cooked by friends of the family; beef and chicken shish-ka-bobs; tiny whole potatoes; fresh tossed salad; and fresh bread and butter. There was no fancy cake, one of Janice's many fortes. Instead Rae requested brownies and homemade cherry rum ice cream. Yummy!!!!!
Of course it is now the Ides of March, the 15th and the 73rd birthday of my best friend, Louise. We have been friends for the past sixty plus years. What a joy it is to have good friends. I have had a dental implant put in; seen my dermatologist and have no problems; and tomorrow get a caratoid artery sonogram just to check on something my family doctor heard while listening to my heartbeat. If that test is okay, I will be leaving here most probably on Monday, headed up to Siobhan's.
On Saturday a friend of mine, and Frank and Heather, will help me go through some things in my storage unit, and fill up Matilda with stuff I want to take back to NM, or up to Brie in Beverly, Massachusetts.
We had a great supper and poker game at June and Bucky's house last night. I may have lost 50 cents at the most. It is great fun, and I loved seeing everyone. I am the baby of the group (in age).
Life is good!
I love you all,
Sally
